Is Dye Sublimation Printing Good?
Dye sublimation printing excels in fine lines and details and is arguably one of the best methods for all-around printing. The low cost of setup makes it ideal for low-volume printing, and the prints are nearly permanent and almost unmatched.
How long will the transfer last?
There is no way to get the exact number. The factors that determine how long a custom T-shirt will last when you apply an image are: These factors apply to all technologies, not just white toner transfer.
1. Do you use HE (high efficiency) laundry detergent?
2. Do you have fabric softener?
3. Will it be dried or will it be dried? In the case of a dryer, how hot does the dryer get?
4. Which T-shirt blank do you use?
• High quality shirts will last a long time.
• Is it cotton, polyester or a blend?
• Does the manufacturer apply any treatment to the shirt to prevent water and stains and improve color fastness?
5. What is the status of the forwarding application? Are the heat press pressure and temperature accurate?
6. Is there a breathable area in the design or is it a well-printed block?
So this is our rule of thumb. Because obviously we can't answer all of the above ... and we too ... can't wash about 30 times. For cheap shirts, bad applied technology, and / or bad news, it can go as low as 100 or even 10.
Can I print on elastic materials?
Can I print on spandex or other elastic materials?
Yes, I can. There are clients who do this all the time. However, the transfer is not extended. The image does not stretch.
That said, some techniques can be used to make it work better with some elastic materials. The worst scenario is that the image is corrupted. This can be a big problem if you're pushing a photographic image, but less important for distressed graphics.
Everything I've described so far about shirt blanks also applies to stretching.
Which graphic file type can I use?
Vector files such as .EPS and .AI are always great for printing. However, you can use .JPG, .TIFF, or .PDF and use plugins to remove backgrounds and other colors. When working with raster images, make sure you are using a very high quality image. Poor graphic quality results in poor print quality.
