Adhesive application | DTF printer process
Direct to Film Printing powder is a hot melt adhesive powder that requires moisture. It's like a small packet that looks like salt coming into the shipping box. The powder appears to bind to the ink. This is a white granular product that acts as an adhesive coating and helps to solidify and secure both the color layer and the white area underneath the base.
You will notice that the powder-ink bond is so strong that it takes longer to wash, similar to traditional screen printing (at least about 20 wash cycles). These Girl Scout shirts should last after the cookie season.
There are several grades of hot melts specified in microns. The particle size is a perfect match for the DTF process.
DTF 24H2 also has a unique shaker powder shaker system that applies hot melt powder adhesive and an automatic excess powder remover. This is handled both mechanically and by using a slight vacuum during the heating step.
